Fatal Vacation

20 years ago, Eric Tsang 曾志伟 directed a movie called "Fatal Vacation". It is a story about a group of Hong Kong tourists got hijacked in the Philippines and how they strive to escape and survive.

Although I think I never watch the movie before (probably too violent to be shown on national tv channels), but I find it is really similar to what happened 3 days ago in the Philippines.

Yes, the people of Hong Kong are victims and they do not deserve this kind of treatment, at all. In fact this shouldn't have happened to anyone, moreover on tourists. The incident left the Philippines condemned by the world. Authorities are advising their people to cancel their trip there, and that include at least one of the travel agencies in Malaysia.

The Philippines being a country famous for its tourist spots would then suffer severely due to one man's act. Imagine how much financial loss could happen out of this nightmare. The poor nation would go poorer.

What makes this incident even more dramatic is that the hijacker was one of the top 10 officers back in 1986. Due to the lost of job 2 years ago he was probably feeling hopeless for the future. He lost all his retirement benefits and the chance to get a governmental job. And probably those disappointments led to this heartbreaking incident.

Of course, Mr Leung's heroic act is to be honoured. Although he failed, I reckon the people of Hong Kong are very proud of his courageous act.

Investigations are still in progress by the Philippines government.

Eric Tsang would probably never had guessed that he was directing a scary future.  Fatal vacation indeed.

Aussie Election

The day is here. Australia has to make a choice.
Australian Flag. February 2010. Seaport, Launceston, Tasmania.

This is the closest election since 1961. Abbott and Gillard both stand 50% of winning chance in the latest survey.
The funny thing is, this Paul the Octopus trend never cease to stop after the World Cup. The 21st century human race has grown smarter by trusting animals to predict their future. Darwin's psychic crocodile - Dirty Harry took a lead in choosing Australia's future for the next 3 years by predicting Gillard as the prime minister 'officially'. Well, that's according to how the media interprets its action. Probably what the croc did was to eat the choice that he thinks is hopeless. You never know.

Oh well, how could a croc think more than a delicious snack of a raw lifeless hanging chicken?

God save Australia!

TODD 100820

Hobart Clock Tower. August 2010. Hobart, Tasmania.

Alright, 2 weeks of madness had officially ended, although I think I just fairly completed the assignment. Well, what can I do to change the past, but to work harder for the next assignment. So far this 2nd semester had been quite interesting. Perhaps it's when I get to know the people (classmates) better. Walls started to break down, nonsense started to flow out haha. It's sad to know that some of the classmates are not continuing their masters and hence this would be the only year that we had been classmates. And after this they are probably gonna start their working life and that will perhaps be something that they are doing for a long long time.

Take care friends! Gonna treasure the remaining weeks.

Time Flies

Joash on guitar. Originally uploaded by Zhen Yang.

Today when I was watching an old Ntv7 news, I came across a report on your funeral.
Then Facebook 'Photo Memories' showed a picture of you from a CF retreat we had early last year.

3 more days and it's 2 months. Time flies.

Updated 2010_08_15:
I always think the past is a past. I never thought I would wanna go back to my past in any point of my life. But there are moments that I would like to go back to:

the time when we serve together in the CF; the time you led the praise and worship; the time when we mamak after CF... ... ...

Although it has been a while, but I still wanna thank you for being there in and for the CF. My days in Taylor's and the CF would definitely be less colourful and blessed without you. Thank you again brother. Thank God because I know you. Indeed, it's heaven's gain to have you back.

Insane Medley

Choi At the Door. August 2010. Carpark, Elizabeth Street, Hobart, Tasmania.

Found myself blogging at the wrong time again.
Last week was probably one of the craziest weeks I had in Tasmania.
Went to Hobart twice.
Submit an assignment.
Participated in an idea competition.
Went to some gatherings.
Snapped lots of pictures.

Even so,
the new week arrived with more assignment dues and responsibilities waiting.

Well, I'll be back home in less than 100 days!
Let that be something that keeps me going.

What keeps you going today? XD
